The Chinese national karate team, consisting of 20 athletes and officials, arrived in Brisbane on 11 April 2013 where they began their highly anticipated tour of Australia under the guidance of former Australian national coach and now Chinese Karate Federation technical director, Dr Richard Bradford.

The team from China impressed at the AKF Australian Open.

The tour consisted of a series of seminars in Gold Coast, Melbourne and Sydney as well as competition at the AKF Australian Open.

The team showed no negative effects competing on foreign soil as they accumulated an impressive nine gold, six silver, and two bronze medals at the Open.

The last seminar in Sydney was the biggest of the tour with over 80 people attending. Chinese National coach Mr Guan used the seminar to teach a series of karate-based takedowns.
